Introduction

In this report I will be talking about how directors can be considered an auteur theory and feminism in the movies Hidden Figures and Transformers.

Auteur Movie

The first directors I will be talking about is transformers directors Michael Bay, with Steven Spielberg as serving as executive producer

Transfomers is a Science, Fiction, Action and Thriller
Transformers is about the fate of humanity at skate when two races of robots, the good Autobots and the villainous Deceptions, bring their war to Earth. The robots have the ability to change into different mechanical objects as they seek the key to ultimate power. Only a human youth, Sam Witwicky can save the world from total destruction.

The casting of transformers was Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes,
Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, Bumblebee, as Mark Ryan
Kevin Dunn as Ron Witwicky as Sam’s dad, Julie White as Judy Witwicky as Sam’s mum.

Transfomers is presented an auteur movie because how unique the movie is that makes the film recognize. Moreover, how the Autobots robotic lifeforms can change into any objects such as cars, trucks, planes.

In addition, the first transformers movie was entertaining with all the explosions, fighting the Autobots and Deceptions the directors Michael Bay, with Steven Spielberg
create. My chosen director can be considered an auteur movie because the film was a unique reflection of the director’s vision of Autobots from another planet Cyberton the Deceptions wanting to take over the world for power.

The use of colours in the movie was bright as the robots were bright, realistic and colourful. In addition, Optimus Prime colours were blue to show the sky blue and dark sea. To symbolize he is trustful, loyal and confident. Bumblebee is the brightest colour, he is yellow it shows happiness, calm. The Autobots were visual appealing, as they were bold, strong, determined as they were all different.

In this movie the symbolic codes the directors use in the setting was based In Los Angeles, California as it is showing real life to the audience.

The lightning in the movie
The movie starts of as bright, as there was realistic lighting used to see all the main characters to look natural.
The lightning was shown on all character in the movie. However, the Autoborts met Sam in an alleyway which uses Low Key picture to create a dark effect, scary and mysterious, but also light effect the movie was zooming on all the Autobots and characters.

Use of Cameras

The team of FBI agents in the movie were sitting in, listening to phone calls on a stakeout. But inside the black van equipment in the industry used to monitor.
The 3D van was hooked up to the rest of the camera crew and video village. This includes receiving all of the data (footage) from the cameras, keeping the cameras in sync, the focuses, on the Autobots zooming in on all of them and for the audience to see the detail and what was happening in the movie. The 3D details such as the volume of the shot, distance between cameras.
It was shot in part on the IMAX Alexa 65 3D rig, which is actually two cameras (a right and a left one to create 3D imagery), used in a 3D configuration for a live-action movie like this. An Alexa 65 camera on its own is shooting extremely high-resolution imagery.

Music and sound

One of the songs in transformers is called The All Spark by The Score. The music was adventurous, powerful, unique and dramatic, the song sounded comparable with war and fighting. In addition, the song’s purpose in the movie scene as it was based on the Autoboot Bumblebee shrinking The Cube which was a powerful weapon the Deceptions wanted to take power to destroy the world. Furthermore, the song cooperates with the Auteur movie as dramatic, uniqu

Hidden Figures

The director is Theodore Melfi

Three brilliant African-American women at NASA, Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) NASA was the first African- American Supervisor and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn (Glen Powell) into orbit, a brilliantwoman of colour who crunched numbers and calculated flight trajectories at NASA’s segregated.

In addition, Hidden Figures is a Feminism movie because the women work hard for their job and work despite being deliberately put down. Moreover, their determination refusal to play the victim which makes the woman role models.  Instead the women proved themselves to be smart, workers and they didn’t give until they got promotions.

In addition, the movie hidden figures present a feminism movie how smart three black girl work at NASA a quote Jim Johnson said, “pretty heavy stuff, they let women handle that sort of” This suggest he was criticizing Katherine talent as she is a woman and can do anything.

Moreover, what makes the movie feminism is how independent, strong and confident these women are. An example of this is
Mary Jonson was the first African American aeronautical female engineer at NASA to attend a white school for engineering as Mary got in the class the Mary said” I am Mary Jackson” professor said, “Well the golden curriculum is not designed for teaching a woman” Mary said “Well I Imagine it is the same as teaching a man” The professor is suggesting how
the school does not have women students in the lesson, this clip is powerful because it shows how women were discriminated against women which is what the film is about, the endless work that women went through particularly. As the women in this movie were inspiring and hardworking.

The genre of the movie is drama, historical figures. As the movie is based on a true story of the struggle for racism, equality and respect of the brilliant black or white female African scientists and how Katherine Johnson was an African- American could make a difference. That all women have value, women are powerful, equal the women were the heroes behind the Spaceship.

The use of colour in the movie was bright, realistic for the audience to see the actresses and actors. Kodachrome and Ektachrome for professional colour, the Kodachrome quality in the colours. The film represents skin and the way it rolls in between the shadows and highlights.
The colours are contrasting colours, bright colour and realistic colours.

The lighting in the movie was bright, realistic had good quality for the audience to see the movie. The Space Task Force was the key location for the film and the only set to build for the film. Light on the top, so there was overall light source that looked kind of space age, and that meant it was shoot 360 degrees in that location. This was important for the tight 43-day shoot.  The film was shot with two cameras to get as many shots as possible. The film looked so the directors put lamps on desks to create depth of colour in the frame for the audience to see the actress and actors
Uses Realistic Lighting to make the characters look natural to create simulate to reality.

Hidden Figures in the computing it was dark, like a cave. They were working in the bottom of a building with no windows. Then, when Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson) goes to work in the Space Task Force, it's big, airy and bright but with less colour. In that room, with all the guys and white shirts, as Katherine to stand out like a jewel in a beautiful green dress.

Music and sound

One of the songs in the Hidden figures movie was Running by Pharrell Williams as the music was upbeat, fast, an old song which engaged with the movie scene, the music was encouraging with the scene as it was based on the main character Katherine Johnson running to another building to use the bathroom.

Moreover, the music had purpose to the scene as the song represents the old school, with the snappy jazz track in the. The song is fast paced which collaborates with Katherine scene. In addition, the bass, piano, saxophone as it was calming, relaxing and went well with the movie to stand out.
Furthermore, how Katherine worked to exceed the barriers in a place surrounding gender and race, showing the endless work that African women in our history must work for NASA.

In conclusion

My film was considered Hidden Figures was considered a feminism movie because how smart independent, and ambitious the women were presented in this movie as they were successful the first African American Women to work in the Space force.  Katherine Johnson was an independent feminism, confident who worked hard for what she wanted and never gave up. In addition, Transfomers was an auteur movie as the directors went above and beyond to make the film unique as Michael bay adds explosions, fire bombs and fights in all his movies as I instantly knew it was him as the director of Transfomers.
